This show reel incudes work using TV Paint, After Effects, sand on glass, Claymation, hyper lapse and table top animation techniques. These were carried out during timetabled workshops on my animation course.
Flip Book
This is my flip book that I handed in for this module. The aim was to practice animating shapes and working with the timing rather than creating a story. This was drawn in a smaller sketchbook.
Stop Motion Puppet Making and Lip Sync to Music (Collaboration)
This is my stop motion animation created with Demelsa Obee. I designed and created the orange robot puppet out of foam which was then used to lip sync and act to the music. The aims were to successfully create puppets and use timing to lip sync the puppets' mouths.
Maya CG Ball Test
This is a test animation of a CG bouncing ball in Maya. This was to practice the skills needed for this program and to gain an understanding of how the tools work.
Maya CG Assault Course and Flour Sack
After creating the bouncing ball, I used Maya to create an assault course. I then animated a ready-made flour sack to travel through the assault course. The aim was to use timing and animation techniques, such as squash and stretch, to give weight and personality to the flour sack.
Group Dance Animation (Collaboration)
This is my group animation that was created in TVPaint. Our group of four were assigned the theme of 1970s Munich in which we created our own German folklore inspired characters. They dance to Mama Loo by Les Humphries in a schuhplattler style. The title is 'Boogienacht'.
Group Animation Character Designs
These are my own character research and designs for our module two, group animation. The animation was created in a group of four with the theme of 1970 Munich in which the characters dance to music in a traditional German style. My character was inspired by a 'moss person', a type of German folklore creature.
Sketchbook Work and On-Location Drawings
A range of drawings from my year one sketchbook which were created using pencil, fibre tip and fine lines pens. Also, a selection of drawings from an on-location session at UWE and Ashton Court. These include long distance city views, architecture and cars.
Life Drawing
These are my sketches from a life drawing class. The time scale is varied for each from 2 minutes to 15 minutes. These sessions are important to improving my drawing skills.
